Katy (and the greater West Houston area) is a great place to live and work. We partner closely with the community to provide support in many areas and events, showing the populace we are Veterans and we are Katy proud.
As part of the community we feel it is important to show our support through volunteerism benefiting the environment, education, civic projects and other initiatives. Our Veterans are an important part of the community and we provide services for them in a variety of ways.
Each year our post provides support to the community in a variety of ways. In a one year time period we have provided 3,260 man hours for a total of over 14,243 miles and $79,967.80 donated/used.
Photos of our many activities can be found on our Shutterfly photo album.
Each year we celebrate with a Live and Silent Auction along with a Lunch. This is an activity that the folks of Katy always look forward to. It provides many with great opportunities to obtain great items at a great price.
Each year the VFW distributes the Buddy Poppy over Memorial Day Weekend, Veteran’s Day and at other community programs and events.
Our Post has an outstanding group of volunteers who participate in our Honor Guard. Every eligible veteran deserves a basic military funeral honors ceremony, including the folding and presentation of the flag and the playing of Taps.
Not only do we perform ceremonies at funeral homes, but we also perform Flag Raising ceremonies. Corporations and governments offices have requested our services.
We support the community in a variety of ways. During the year the city of Katy holds a number of activities that we participate in, to include festivals, parades and a rodeo.
Each year the VFW recognizes three exceptional teachers – one each from the elementary, junior high and high school levels – for their outstanding commitment to teach Americanism and instill patriotism in their students.
Veteran support is our primary reason for existing. The Post and Auxiliary are involved in numerous projects and activities.
